Testing three fragrances in one session is possible. Testing three fragrances correctly in one session requires a protocol. Without one, you are not comparing — you are confusing
ACT 01 — SETUP | 0 MIN — Spray fragrance A on left inner wrist. Spray fragrance B on right inner wrist. Spray fragrance C on a blotter strip. Do not rub. Do not touch. Write down or photograph the order. Wait 5 minutes before smelling any of them — let the initial alcohol flash evaporate.
ACT 01 EVALUATION | 5–30 MIN — Smell each in sequence: A, then B, then C (blotter). Wait 60 seconds between each. Note the opening character of each — citrus, floral, woody, spicy. Do not decide anything at this stage. These are top notes. They are previews.
ACT 02 EVALUATION | 30–60 MIN — Return to the same order: A, B, C. Now you are in the transition zone. Top notes are departing. Heart character is asserting. This is the evaluation that matters. At this stage, make your preliminary ranking. If one formula is clearly not compelling in its heart phase, remove it from consideration. Apply fragrance C to skin (inner elbow) if it passed the blotter stage.

WHAT TO DO INSTEAD
Maximum three fragrances per session. Use blotters for initial screening. Commit to skin only the top one or two candidates. Equalise all time intervals — compare Act 2 with Act 2. If you cannot decide between two after one session, schedule a second session on a different day with fresh skin. A fragrance purchase based on a fatigued, rushed, or poorly structured test is likely to be the wrong one. Take your time. The formula will not change. Your nose will.
